The Business Week cover story.

Wow! what a story! How sensational!

I happen to know some facts. The story, which is in some ways
interesting and entertaining, is mostly a big front page catchy
story. Very high on juice, pretty inaccurate or just plain wrong
on facts, and mainly out with very bad timing. For the most part
it doesn't describe the current SGI, it goes long on old news and
old troubles. SGI is out of those shadows, with new management,
new products, different attitude and better strategies.

I was bothered by the fact that there was no interview with any
employee in the trenches today. Mostly outsider disparaging comments.
As far as I know people within SGI, and I know some, they are one of
the most committed, talented, and motivated employee forces in the
world. The turnover is still one of the lowest in the valley and the
products are top notch. You cannot do this unless you're a leading
edge company.

The Gee Whiz article appeared just as the SGI stock was off to its
longest slide in history. Let's hope this one will mark an opposite
trend for the long run. It certainly looks this way.
