Philosophy not being measurable by any yardstick nor testable by any reproducible experiment can allow just about any gibberish to be proffered as critical thinking, and by relativism there exist no quacks.


Adam Smith and David Hume are philosophers.

But there is lots of bad philosophy being done, no question. The reason we put up with philosophers, apart from entertainment value, is survival: We don't know what the future is and it may turn out the lunatic fringe is right.
