Scott:

You may remember that I too cautioned you with regard to both SJD and GAM. I never said you couldn't make money with them, in fact, I believe I said you might make a lot with SJD. The point was that in my estimation both these companies were lacking in management skill and that means that I could not speculate with them as you never know when a mismanagement debacle may arise. What was the biggest flaw with Bre-x??? Bad management that was itself victimized by the fraud of its own employees!!!!

Frankly, I am amazed by Gammon's progress not so much with SJD. I met with Gam a couple of years ago when they were at $6.00 and very early on in their program in the middle of a MASSIVE BEAR for the jr. golds and without saying so directly these guys wanted me to believe that ABX were weeks away from buying them out at $15.00 because they were on a site visit!!!!! Maybe GAM has gained sagacity and lost that incredible naivete, they did find a more credible partner. What SJD & GAM both have in common was they spent multiple millions proving up 500,000 ozs., SJD taking three times as long to do it. They will continue to do well in a rising gold market and sjd has come up with some pretty numbers. For management comparison look back at NSU from 1995 on vs SJD. SJD pissed money away that 99% of juniors would have died for because they had no commitment to what they were doing.
I have NSU in West Africa and there are far worse places to be than Ghana and Mali. However, one must assume some political risk there and so NSU is enough exposure for me.

It isn't about wether or not you can make money it is about what risks you want to take on in a speculation.

Regards,
Ogi
