Anti-alpha 4 integrin shows impressive promise for MS by attenuating appearance of lesions.

I've always felt that if a directed diminution of lymphocyte/macrophage migration to the brain during neurologic pathology (auto-immune or not) can be achieved, then a significant reduction of disease phenomenology will follow. Such an approach would also substantially mitigate microglial activation as well and this result alone would likely produce the most impressive improvements.

The fact that interfering with lymphocyte adhesion produced such dramatic improvement in new plaque development (though, importantly, symptomology data was not reported) strongly suggests this approach has compelling legs.
