Ed, my holding periods tend to be about a year. I build a core position and trade the channels. Once you become familiar with a stock, besides knowing that there will be news to drive the price, you also get to know its trading pattern. I also like to keep an eye on the stock's respective sector as well as the general market to get a sense of the big picture.

CLGY's news today, I think, is the kind of event driven circumstance that you and I like to be in on a stock before the market responds.
