more fantastic economic analysis from our non-biased friends at Briefing...

8:33AM Jobless Claims higher than expected : Claims rose 13K to 403K, continuing their recent volatile pattern and coming in well above the 382K consensus. It is still difficult to say where claims will settle once the volatility subsides, but our best guess is that the labor market remains steady with little net new job creation.

i'd like to see this dood define 'volatility'. claims have been in a decently tight range of 390-415 for 4-5 weeks. what he should say is 'it is difficult to say when claims will go down, but we have the utmost confidence that when they do go down there will be net new job creation'.

morons.

Cheers
