BTW, there is a short review article in SCIENCE this week (18 Jul 97, TECH.SIGHT, p.393) about array-based genomics by Fodor, focusing (naturally) on the AFFX chip system (no pun intended). The hilarious thing about the article is the photo centered on p.393. The figure labeled "DNA chip fabricated by photolithography" is actually a scan of a Synteni-style DNA microarray for gene expression! I suppose someone at the journal screwed up and grabbed the wrong photo. (The microarray researchers are none-too-pleased: "Those guys at SCIENCE really owe us big time now." :-)
