<shudder> Oh, the stories behind that and other posts by the same author that'll have to remain untold. And the emails. Etc, etc. In fact, some of those emails that'd show up anytime the word "blue" showed up in a post somewhere were the inspiration for my "purple" bit.
I see that the thread has evolved to a lot more than just discussion of "Kidney Boy", but since someone brought that character to my attention and wanted my take, here I am for a moment.
My recollection on some of this stuff is fuzzy at best and I haven't retained any of my emails from working here, so at best this should be concerned an iffy opinion, at most.
I don't think K44B was Mark (Marc?) Barton.
Granted, the circumstantial evidence everyone saw kinda pointed toward him and without giving specifics, so did some of the circumstantial evidence I was able to see behind the scenes.
Except for one particular thing that, for me, completely ruled him out.
I don't remember which ISP was involved, but he was using an IP address that traced to an ISP in Canada. I wouldn't expect anyone in Atlanta to be using a Canadian ISP at home, and I spent quite a bit of time looking for a Canadian connection with the trading firms in Atlanta where the shootings happened and found none.
As it stands right now, I consider him (Kidney Boy) very definitely not the shooter, despite some amazing coincidences, but if someone can find a solid reason posts written at that daytrading firm would've had a Canadian IP address, that'll completely change my mind.
Someone on SI also received an email from Kidney Boy. If that person can be found and can check the IP address it originated from, that would help. I think I had them forward a copy to me, but it didn't have the original IP address and they didn't know how to go about retrieving that. Or maybe they did retrieve it and it was the same Canadian ISP. Like I said, my memory of a lot of this stuff is fuzzy.
Has *Rosario* been nominated yet? How about Pugs? Riley G? The Rocketeers? Spamo Profundo and his other 2 accounts?
Edit: The post in that link isn't the one I remember best. The one I remember had (I think) 14 occurrences of the word "moron". |
