Tiger, You are right Proteon/OpenROUTE still has financials to maintain a stock price of 2 dollars based upon financials alone. Sales and revenue wise I am worried and therefore I got out of this one. They do seem to have a good marketing campaign going, now whether this will produce increased sales is the question?
My chief concern is not another networking hardware vendor it is Microsoft. At my place of employment we recently put in an NT network. When it came to remote access we asked the question if we really needed a stand alone router or would NT's built in routing capabilites be sufficient? We settled on NT. This spells trouble for not only Proteon/OpenROUTE but other stand alone low end router vendors in my opinion. Why spend even 6 or 7 hundred dollars on a stand alone router when NT offers increasingly powerful routing capabilites built in for the cost of the software? I just can not see stand alone routers having a great future. I hope I am wrong and Proteon/OpenROUTE proves they are on the right path but I began to see trouble ahead with the release of "steelhead" by Microsoft and I only see more trouble ahead with NT 5.0. I was hoping Proteon/OpenROUTE could increase sales before hand but this quarter was a dissappointment. Their best option is to look for a partner in my opinion.
