<Two arrogant clods seated on either side of me had their phones on throughout the flight (and indeed MQ, we didn't crash) and while we were landing the Vz phone went into the net somewhere over San Jose and the AT&T phone didn't connect until we were on the runway. This could just be a difference in the allowable doppler in the signals.>

Good for them Paul! It's time the airlines provided the service people want instead of ranting on about safety when they are too stupid to shut cockpit doors until after the horses have bolted in and crashed a bunch of planes.

Years ago I had noticed the stupidity of airlines in leaving access to the cockpits available to anyone who could be bothered walking three steps from where I was seated.

They ignored such risks while burbling on about a zero risk from CDMA phones. There has never been a plane crash from a CDMA phone and never will be.

If Boeing doesn't like the risk of people using cellphones, they should harden their useless aircraft to ensure extraneous consumer electronics [or terrorist electronics for that matter] are not able to incapacitate the aircraft.

It takes determined people such as your two clods to defy stupid authority, to move life to a new and better phase. Left to their own devices, bureaucrats and authoritarians would keep us smothered forever.
