And your point is well taken. Once that army's around, someone's gonna find something to do with it, whether for legitimate reasons, to test out new weapons systems or for reasons having nothing to do with why the military was created in the first place.
Ultimately, what I think has to happen is for the United Nations to deliberate in the matter with all parties who have a bone of contention. But the parties must come to table in the belief that the U.N. will resolve the dispute and no matter how hard it is for one side or the other, the parties must agree to adhere to and respect UN's ability to make a decision for resolution.
It's really that simple. Maybe what Saddam needs is new allies, thinkers from different nations, who think and act differently than he does; maybe what Bush needs is a better understanding as to why so many people in the world hate America because of its vast manipulation of the world's energy and resources.
A good game of chess, some good coffee and tobacco, some art on the walls and a few waves of musicians, poets and dancers. But, most of all, these leaders need to learn how to smile as they work out the world's problems, they need to think that what they're doing is for others and not themselves or those closely aligned.
