here is the release by Mack Truck the only thing the market is waiting for is numbers which is coming shortely then this baby is going to explode, 2-3 dollars should be easy, and once everybody sees the numbers it will not be called hype anylonger

Company announces Real-Time ON-Board Diagnostic System
Allenstown ,Pa. ((july 22, 1997) -Mack Trucks, Inc and IVS Intelligent vehicle Systems, Inc. have entered into an agreement to offer Mack customers SMARTLINK-- a new diagnostic and life-cycle vehicle management tool. The system, a Mack exclusive after-market product, uses computor technology and wireless communcations to analyze, in real time, a vehicles location, performance, and overall operating characteristics.

SMARTLINK provides information to alert fleet managers and dispatchers of pending events," says Russ Raine, Mack vice-president of customer product support. "It is an invaluable service tool that can detect a fault in the early stages of a vehicle system failure, so that action can be taken to correct the problem while it is still manageable. The end result is minimized vehicle downtime and increased productivity."

With SMARTLINK even intermittent problems are recordeed on the systems computer and then transmitted to a remote diagnostic site. The vehicles operations can then be monitored in real-time if desired with data files generated and analyzed as troublesome events occur.

"Fleets are always trying to squeeze the maximum performance out of every vehicle," remarks Raine. "With this system fleet managers can-- locally or remotely--monitor critical fleet data management information anytime, anywhere."

The system incorporates the Global Positioning System (GPS) to track the vehicle's geographic location across the globe. In addition to providing a valuable service with respect vehicle maintenance. It also acts as a theft deterrent. If stolen, the exact location of trucks equipped with GPS can be identified quickly and accuractly.

The system has been designed to be flexable and expandable for all its users. Data generated by SMARTLINK is readily exportable into a wide variety of spreadsheet, database, and fleet data management programs.

The systme is also tied into Mack's 24 hour Roadside Assistance Program. Trained technicains are always on hand to help diagnose a problem immediately dispatch roadside assistance, or arrange for towing to nearest Mack authorized facility, if needed.
