In 2000-2001 the oil industry (Enron and all the others) proved to us they cannot be trusted. In my mind they are on probation at best. They proved they think nothing of gouging us and lying to us, ganging up on us whenever it suits their strategic desires. If you want to defend them go ahead but Enron, Reliant, Dynegy, El Paso, Williams, Duke and more were all part of a massive fraud which ripped us off for about 100 billion, and the Saudi friends of Bush were probably in on it too. How do we pay for hydrogen fuels programs? By taking the money Bush wants to GIVE AWAY to big oil plus the cost of the next WAR OVER OIL and use them to make sure we don't need Arab or US wilderness area oil ever again. Very smart, clean common sense goal. The money is there and it's worth it.
