Bill Gates 2 years ago said the Internet was not going to catch on. And now he's pressing hard to catch up. The point is that technology is so chaotic that nobody can predict its future. Apple has just as good of a chance as anyone else to prosper. The demise of Apple has been predicted for the last 10 years but yet they still exist. Frankly I'm suprised that they still exist. If the industry would only look at price, Apple would have been gone a long time ago. I agree that there's absolutely nothing that you can do on a Mac that can't be done on a PC but another factor to consider is mere preference of the interface. The computer industry will be in big trouble if Apple dies. If they do die , PC users in the long run will suffer due to the lack of innovation. They will be victims of standards imposed to them by Microsoft and the rate of change will slow to a crawl. I am not a Mac fanatic ( I have a PC) but I do appreciate the freedom to choose.
