You assertion that they were "constructed by the U.S." is subject to debate.

I haven't seen anyone question this before. You never heard of Operation Cyclone? Anwar Sadat was one of co-conspirators (along with the U.S., Saudi Arabia, and others), and he was the first victim of blowback. Our blowback took a bit longer to occur.
