I downloaded the spreadsheet of Naz listed companies (updated 11/2002), and it had 200 fewer entries than the one updated 9/2002. Dang!

This page says 3765 listed companies in the Naz through Sept 02. So if 200 companies dropped off in the next 2 mos- thats another 5% gone. Actually that seems a bit extreme to me, are you sure thats right?

In any case, the fact that any startups have survived this nuclear winter in tech is just amazing.

This is a great time to be in a startup if you ask me. Just in terms of potential payout in the liquidity event, I mean. But the problem is, most startups today were around in 2000/2001 which was when the reality setin that this is no typical recession in tech. The company culture/morale in most startups I've heard about (including my own) is very negative after all the layoffs and strategy shifts. You can't win with that attitude.
