Is this the reason the stock is heading up?

Quoting from the article....

As is usual at the annual event, Ballmer and other officials tried to dampen expectations for the upcoming fiscal year. Ballmer said the company is focusing on six primary competitors: Netscape Communications Corp., Sun Microsystems Inc., Oracle Corp., IBM Corp., Novell Inc. and Corel Corp.

"I think about these companies everyday, but none of our competitors have the ability to do the entire nervous system," said Ballmer. "The breadth and integration of our product line should be our strongest asset in dealing with the channel and our customers."

We're still considered a 'primary' competitor by MSFT! They've looked at what's coming down the line from Novell and decided that we're not as dead as they hoped. Maybe the feedback from their account reps that accounts are adopting "Exit Strategies" from MSFT products - including switching back to NetWare and UNIX - has caused them to look again, just as they thought they'd won.

PS Quote from Microsoft brochure from the UK

"32 bit operating systems, so called because they calculate 32 instructions at a time..."

It's true - you couldn't make up something like that....
