Well, there is the issue of the green light we gave Saddam before he invaded Kuwait.

If that has any truth to it at all its an exaggeration. One envoy said something along the lines of "we don't interfere in inter Arab squabbles". I doubt this was intended to mean "we don't care if you settle your squabble by invading Kuwait and conquering the whole country", but rather something like "we don't seek to impose a solution to your dispute that is for you and Kuwait to negotiate".

Another exaggeration. Also not particularly relevant. We provide maybe a half of a percent of his weapons. And even if it was 100% it doesn't excuse what he has done nor does it say anything about actions that we might take against him. If anything if we had been his main arms supplier it would be even more our responsibility to do something about the situation.
