very big win for Ohio State, so many great memorable plays I just hope during the ESPN dissection, that the overtime interference penalty was really a violation it looked like interference to me, even though biased the contact was apparent well before the ball's arrival so many huge plays, so many
Clarett refused to run wide, respect for Miami outside speed I thought Clarett shared possession during strip in 4th Qtr, but he must have had much more than 50% Clarett was stopped 90% of the plays, but not in overtime when he squirted nicely in a stubborn change of direction
Krenzel gets little respect, but makes few mistakes, and is a bull near goal line his QB rating is up there, but so often he gives up with little opportunity for open receivers
clearly the great athletes are on the defensive unit Buckeye speed is right up there on defense talk about hitting, I loved the smack in 4th Qtr after the Miami receiver had a 25 yd gain, then got popped our defense did not have excessive pressure on Dorsey the whole game, but they did have plenty on many occasions, enough to put points on the board
simply awesome vicious (not dirty) hitting by Buckeyes I do hope Miami's McGahee will be ok, fine running back that looked to me to be a multiple ligament tear (ACL and Medial) unbelievable OSU defense, speed, hitting, stripping, stunting, rushing, clogging the line
the game ended in fitting fashion, with Miami's Dorsey tossed like a rag doll from a blitz and OHIO STATE DEFENSE on the field Miami failed to score on 1st & Goal on the 2 yd line !!!
I liked the fake field goal in the 2nd Qtr, even though it failed the missed FG on the other occasion was critical
what I hated hated was absolutely zero fakes offensively that simply doesnt get the job done no play action passes no misdirection counter runs no end arounds I suppose they wanted to avoid making mistakes, and let the defense win
5 turnovers for OhState, 2 for Miami Buckeyes scored two TD's in first half off turnovers, on short fields
very memorable game, one I will never forget the last OSU National Championship was in 1968, the year before my freshman year, with numerous players who grew up and were mainstays e.g. Jack Tatum, Rex Kern, Jim Stillwagon
MIAMI HAS NEVER SEEN SUCH VICIOUS HITTING, STRENGH, SPEED ON DEFENSE hats off to Miami defense, they were solid & tough
great great game, bigtime fun / jim |
