I think Michael was talking about the kind of disasters that would affect human beings. If these problems don;t effect us, most people just don't care very much, I think. The mountain apes are the same ones Diane Fossi worked with, popularized by the movie Gorillas in the Mist.

As far as donations, don't know exactly, but a quick call to the WWF would get that info.
