Memories.....

Message 18361493

Is it very unfair of me to post this link in the context of MT and Mr. Hitchens? Hmmmmmmm...... I think not :-)

I know you have a sore spot for MT, and you always have done. I must say I do not understand it. The woman has her detractors and they make some good points. Even Gandhi's detractors make good points and, imo, he was a better person than MT but I don't get my panties in a twist when people poke a stick at Gandhi. I read what they have to say, and sometimes it makes sense within a given context and sometimes it doesn't. But I don't worry about whether they have a moral right to talk about him. MT is a historical figure now. She thrust herself forward, in service of something (her beliefs? probably), and we all have a moral right to comment on her, and the church and whatever else we want, as long as we don't bring the private affairs of real private people into the public realm. Mr. Hitchens most certainly is NOT doing that.

Of course I have a hard time not laughing over the morality of discussing (or not discussing) public figures. That is really quite funny. Do you really believe that?
