CDU: Cardero acquired their Argentine silver property in Sept 2002. But note on the chart that the stock price had rallied strongly long before the silver acquisition. Cardero's regional play in Mexico is attracting serious due diligence from majors.

Regarding the Argentine silver property and Cardero's large market cap: there is little risk (by exploration standards) in this property. There is every reason to believe they have 10 million tons at 15oz Ag/ton for 150 million oz, on surface, open-pittable. There may be many times this much silver.
