I think Castro simply wants to die in peace knowing his people get fed, that they play an excellent level of baseball and that every American who wants one is able to smoke a cigar from his country.

I think when he dies--if nothing controversial happens between now and that point--that historians will probably view him favorably given that he held out, so close for so long. It'll be an interesting read.
