Here's the 'official' opener on the company web site... August Biomedical Corp. have developed and patented a low cost optical imaging technology for distinguishing normal from abnormal tissue that they believe will have a significant impact on the diagnosis of cervical and oral cancer worldwide. But here's something that is more than interesting.... "Dr. Miriam Rosin (BC Cancer Agency) has used a prototype version of the August Biomedical system on 100 patients for past 6 months. Whereas Toluidine blue-staining (Zila Inc.'s OraTest Kit that is in clinical trials) indicated only the center of the lesion and was much more technically challenging to perform in these early studies. The August Biomedical system highlights oral cancer lesions, and lesion margins." augustbio.com
