Re OPEC's role.

They do in fact flood the market with oil at times to meet their long term goals of price stability.

That is not "flooding the market". That is, as you have aptly said, price stability.

It is not in the interests of the oil producers to kill their customers, either. So they keep the price at a certain VERY PROFITABLE level, which will not cause excessive angst in the economies of their customers.

None of this contradicts what I have said, which was that a drop in oil price is not to the advantage of the producer. You must have misunderstood it, as if I were saying OPEC tries to push prices higher.
