It's wonderful the way the young fathers of today chip in and play such an important part in their children's lives.
My son does in his family also, which is amazing to me since he never felt the need to participate growing up. Maybe having two older sisters who did everything for him, had a wee bit to do with it.
I took a course in "PET" (Parent Effectiveness Training) The gist of the whole training was to repeat the statement back to the child, in a different manner, formed in a question, so "they" could learn to understand their arguments, and learn to work through them.
I know it sounds like so much BS now, but when you have a genius for a son..(not bragging, just the facts)..I didn't know how to treat him, and get through to him..
Anyhow, after about two weeks of this, and him staring at me like ET had taken up residency in his mother, he finally asked me "Why do you keep repeating everything I say?"
I quit the class and decided I'd never understand his way of thinking.
Father's always say they don't have a problem dealing with the children when the mother's not around...I could really get into that one, but maybe another time on another thread! LOL |
