In a few rooms located inside a building in downtown Porto Alegre, the company Carnegie Cooke of Brazil runs its business. There, gamlers bet online, through tv monitors, with US dollars, and with tickets issued in Mexico, testing their luck on the horses that are racing in the United States and other countries´ race tracks. Both the company, which has its head office in Las Vegas, and the activity are illegal. The owner is the reformed PM (Military Police) Coronel, Valdo Marques da Silva. The Justice Ministry has opened the process to investigate the case.
