David Re...It was only after LBJ failed to make the true committment to the war that was necessary to win it that our troops became disillusioned, and which bred the disillusionment at home. That is what the cold war was, a lack of commitment to win the war totally, because that may have meant, in both NK and Vietnam's case, having to deal with China and possibly Russia. Now, in this war, the liberals think we should apply the same logic, not defeat the enemy, but contain him until they decide to be nice guys. The cold war took 50 yrs, do we really want to take that long this time, just to save Saddams job.
