exactly..

so if we see numbers of non- dividend paying co's suddenly doing so...is it because business growth is slowing or are they doing so to "attract investors" (bribe)....

i will say, i'm not sure if i were a msft shareholder i would be too keen about them sitting on billions in cash right now when their business growth is slowing down.

also i'm not against the tax change for dividends...i just am skeptical that it will create an infusion of fresh money for the consumer to spend (which is one of the arguments that has been made) or will spur greater investment in equities solely on that basis.
