your comment "I think the inactions of the Bush administration has contributed to a difficult situation getting much, much worse." is something I've got to take issue to. Bush had nothing to do with the election of Sharon and the decline of 'Oslo Negotiators'.

After Taba, the Israeli electorate, decided they no longer were going to engage Arafat. All Bush did was hestitate and finally give in to that reality. He could not get Sharon to negotiate while bombers were blowing themselves up all over Israel. Neither would Gore or Clinton been able to do anythihng to save the situation. The perception by Israel was that the Palestinian leadership had abandoned the peace process for the suicide bomber process. Negotiations were over!
