To all,

I went to the San Diego Auto show this weekend and was very impressed with two Hybrid vehicles by Honda. Unfortunately, their were no pure alternative fuel vehicles (other than golf carts), and the Honda's were the only Hybrids.

The first Honda was a two seater that had fuel efficiency of about 56 city and 55 highway. That is from memory, it may be one MPG off, but city driving was 1 MPG better than the highway number. I talked with a guy who had test drove one and he raved about how great it was. Very smooth, with plenty of power. The second version was a 4 seater with mileage in the high 40's.

They had run out of brochures, but the Honda rep told me both models ran on Nickel Metal Hydrid batteries that were expected to last 15 to 20 years ("the lifetime of the vehicles") and used regenerative braking. He said his dealership in Escondido (that's in North San Diego county) usually had about 4 in stock at any time. To me the most surprising thing was the price - only about $21,000!!!
