I have little doubt that the people of Afghanistan appreciate what we're doing there, even if the local war lords may not.

It sounds like things are coming along, slowly but surely. Weapons collecting, and the new afghani currency notes have been issued in Kabul. Disarm the warlords, stabilize the currency controlled in Kabul. Now if Karzai can get the Afghan army whipped into shape, he'll be at the starting line.
