I think most of the Cubans in Miami that support the embargo are driven mostly by emotional hatred of Castro and a desire for revenge. I don't think they are objective or rational enough on the subject to care about the plight of the starving in Cuba exacerbated by the embargo they vehemently support. I think the embargo is not supported by most US citizens, especially those from outside of the Miami area. That our foreign policy seems to be determined by this handful of bitter people is a sin, imo.
Castro may be the initial cause and target but he is not the victim. If you want to go back to root causes why not go back to the social ills that made Cuba ripe for Castro's revolution.

Basically it seems to me that the same monied class that misgoverned Cuba before the revolution fled Cuba to Miami and set themselves up to perpetuate their values there. Isn't it in their interest to keep the average Cuban refugee focused on hating and blaming Castro while having the allegiance and patronage of these same disenfranchised people?
