Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid make up 48% of the budget. These programs are out of control. From eligibility to bulk buying policy, the whole system needs an overhaul.

Federal employee pensions make up 7% of the budget. This is classic self-dealing, spurred on government employee unions and an irresponsible congress. We'll need to break the unions to get this piece under control.

Another 19% is non-defense discretionary spending. Many programs, like the NEA and public broadcasting, are outdated and no longer deserve funding. This area can be cut to 14-16% of the budget without any harm to the country.
