Monday, January 6 Favre says he's coming back for another season -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ESPN.com news services Two days after a disappointing playoff exit, Brett Favre announced Monday he will return for another season with the Packers. There had been speculation that Favre might decide to retire, but the future Hall of Fame quarterback followed through on his initial intentions to come back and play a 13th season. Favre struggled a bit during the second half of the season after being slowed by a knee injury. The Packers lost to the Falcons 27-7 in the NFC wild card round of the playoffs on Saturday. It was the first home playoff loss for the Packers in team history after 13 victories. There also has been speculation that the Packers might try to draft Florida's Rex Grossman and groom him as a replacement for Favre. ESPN.com learned last week that Grossman will turn pro. Grossman will make a formal announcement this afternoon. Ron Wolf, a consultant for the Packers and their former general manager, told ESPN's Chris Mortensen last week that Grossman reminds him of Favre more than any college quarterback he's seen in the past 10 years. Favre started all 16 games for the Packers this season, leading them to the North Division title. Favre threw 27 touchdown passes with 16 interceptions for 3,658 yards.
