It could be the folks who tried to set her up with dates are folks who she privately does not respect in that way. As a single man I had a friend who I hung out with a bit, who I liked a lot, but whose taste in women was (how do I say it gently?) despicable, in my opinion. The women had big boobs, nice legs and the brains of a dang amoeba. Just kinda embarrassing to spend the night talking with a dang amoeba. So I turned the guy down at every turn. Besides, I am kinda old-fashioned and a dang friggin' hopeless romantic. I believe in all that One True Love and Love at First Sight stuff. Had I not been totally knocked over by my wife, I'd still be single today because I just don't wanna waste dang time having to plow through a buncha dang amoebas before I find The One. Condie may not really like the idea of having to waste her time. Not every dang body just wants to have unemotional sex. The dang idea just repulses me. But dass just me. Yall kin do what you wants.
