the United States has continued to withhold approval of grain shipments sought by humanitarian groups to avert starvation on the Korean Peninsula.

Very machiavellian... The Chinese fear being inundated with N. Korean refugees, and the US needs to create the conditions for internal insurrection to manifest itself..

If Jong continues to feed his army instead of his people, something will have to give, especially because soldier's extended families will be included in those not able to obtain food...

Very tough game of "chicken" going on here, but from a "realpolitik" perspective, it's Jong's (and Bejing's) problem....

I don't see the S. Koreans complaining too much as they would probably like to see more of their family members permitted to come south anyway... Of course, when they have to find jobs, food, and shelter, they may suddenly realize that they should have been careful what they asked for..

Lessee how long the US can hold out on this one... Personally, I say let other countries pay Jong's bribe..
