Inet makes SS7 protocol analyzer (and it ain't cheap). The reason I would buy them is because of the SS7 expertise they have in dealing with the SS7 stack, and the various layers (OMAP, ISUP, TCAP, etc).

DataKinetics makes MVIP and SC-bus SS7 boards which provide MTP layers (1-3). They also sell TCAP and ISUP layers (very expensve).

Trillium licenses source for upper-level SS7 layers. We use their SW on DataKinetics boards.

TSDesigns is another maker of SS7 boards.

I am not familiar with Geotel and Genesys. I will look into these companies. I always have a hard time investing in a company that has astronomical earnings multiples.

In Europe and Asia, a good number of the SP VM installations are SS7. Hence most high-end VM providers support SS7 (in some limited fashion). Dialogic does not provide a minimal SS7 solution that would be adequate for VM/switch integration. NMSS does (albeit not very good). A lot of the expertise is found in these smaller companies. I believe that DLGC would be smart to begin developing expertiese in SS7. The best way to do this is through acquisition of some of these smaller companies.
