I reckon you are burning them in effigy right about now.

The torture has not ended yet.

Have you heard the latest?

The NFL came out with a statement (about an hour ago) that
there was an error in the officiating of the end of the
game.

No joke. I should go look for the news somewhere, but I
figure Stockman Scott will be here with it soon.

The NFL is saying that the officials should have called two
penalties where they had only called one "officially".

There was an non-eligible lineman down field during the
pass.

However the lineman that the pass was intended for WAS
eligible. He was on the list of eligible receivers that
the officials get at the beginning of the game.

"So what" I said.
There wasn't any time left.
And the penalties would have offset each other.

Well there is the catch.

Under NFL rules, the game cannot end on a defensive penalty
nor can it end on offsetting penalties.

The Giants would have been awarded the ball back on the 42
yardline for another chance.

Then the Snapper could have flubbed up another one just to
stick it to us Giants fans once again.

Anyhow, the game is over and nothing can be done to correct
the error except for an "I'm Sorry" by the NFL.

There's no sour grapes here though.
The Giants should have never got themselves into that jam.

It really was a great game.
Garcia proved his greatness yesterday.

He reminded me a little bit of Elway or Montana with that
great 2nd half comeback.

That was a classic game that I'll remember for a long time.

We'll get ya next year... <g>
