"It was on the same basis that I would say a CEO could be fired for opening the company to the threat of litigation, by hitting on a young intern in his office, "
That's a pretty naive statement. Surely you have heard and read enough about corporate "affairs" which most recently have included Jack Welch, former CEO of GE... I have personally known of high level execs and their dalliances on and off company property.... Litigation was never mentioned openly and btw, litigation over what???? Interns, I would think, are all above the age of consent. Bad publicity, no doubt, would get the guy fired but litigation? Maybe I'm overlooking something.
And Clinton did not try to destroy Monica...in fact, many of the early lies were to avoid identifying her. Wasn't it only after "good friend" Linda Tripp played her tapes that the lid came off???
Bettie Currie, like most of those working for a high level leader, would gladly suffer hardship to protect their bosses , officers, etc... I'm confident she suffered no financial hardship in the end..... |
