I wouldn't agree with the Right Wing characterization. I think people of good conscience can exist anywhere on the political continuum. If I don't agree with you, I think we can disagree but without being rude. People of good conscience will examine the facts and hopefully honestly respect the indications of such facts.

Consider the current meaning of conservative:

Is it conservative to disregard one's environment?
Is it conservative to have a plan that is inadequate to accomplish its objective?
Is it conservative to not have read Sun Tzu's "Art of War"?
Is it conservative to base one's economy on oil from fractious and unstable sources?
Is it conservative to have no "plan b" for our energy sources?
Is it conservative to spend money that one doesn't have?
Is it conservative to "go it alone" in a volatile political environment?
Is it conservative to willfully alienate one's previous allies?
Is it conservative to let whole classes of people fall to poverty while a few prosper?

None of these are "conservative" acts but people who call themselves "conservative" sometimes embrace rhetoric which clearly produces such outcomes.

I really don't like labels. They are inadequate and never really help build consensus or understanding. They are used by Machiavelian individuals to divide popular opinion into artificially polarized viewpoints that are disjointed from reality. The REAL "Silent Majority" better wake up and smell the coffee. While they are at it, they should READ the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution.
