Dave,
Good post! I agree with your opinion of Dialogic requiring the necessary expertise for SS7 and the wealth of applications that would bring to integrators such as your employer. I do disagree with the last sentence of your post. I believe the best way for Dialogic to attain SS7 capability would be to partner or purchase one(or many) of the open programmable switch manufacturers. The recent Summa/Dialogic/Junction press release is a fine example of this taking place within the industry. The Summa switch already contains the necessary SS7 capability upon which to develop intelligent network applications. The alliance's intent to integrate the Dialogic cards into the Summa backplane would also give Dialogic a BellCore compliant switching capability that does not exist today in any Dialogic product. I've noticed that a large portion of the postings here concern Dialogic products as they relate to the CTI market, but let's not forget the telcos which are soon to be pressed by the government to provide certain capabilities (e.g. Local Number Portability)that can only be provided by Intelligent Network Platforms. I believe that this product could play a large part in future DLGC revenue if it comes to fruition. On a different note, I have caught rumors in the past about a potential purchase of Summa by Dialogic and have just recently heard that talks on this subject had taken place between the two companies. Can anyone on this thread confirm or deny this rumor?

Regards,
Crash
