There's as much racism in Democratic Party-promoted affirmative action policies as there was in what Lott said. And, though not a Republican, in the interest of fairness I'm completely inclined to believe that, as he and others attempted to explain: what he said had far more to do with trying to be kind to a 100-year-old man than praising the demented Dixiecrats of yore.
