SLR auto focus camera

I'm familiar with the current Canon line, less with Nikon, not at all with Minolta and Pentax. To me, Nikon cameras and lenses are less "user friendly" than Canon's but Nikon lenses tend to flare less than others, Canon included. For best glass look at Zeiss and Leica.

My choice from your list would be the Elan7e (worked with EOS since its inception), though like Bill I wonder why film instead of digital. Is it the one dSLR versus the four SLRs one can get for the same price? If so, don't forget to factor in the price of film and processing.
