What bothers me most is that I persuaded my girlfriend to open a waterhouse account two years ago when there was only a $2000 minimum. She deposited $10,000 and and bought a small position in the QQQ. Well that obviously lost value and just a few months ago I noticed a inactivity fee on her statement.I had missed the first notice of the raise in the minimum balance to $10,000 and was surprised to see she was being charged the fee.She wasn't very happy that she had to send in more $$$ to keep the balance above 10k, but did it.
Now I tell her it's 25k and she has to close or transfer the account with the resultant fees. She's not too happy with me right now. Thank You Waterhouse!!!
