Re: I have not arrived at a point that tells me the US government bombed the Oklahoma building, planned WTC or that Ariel Sharon is backing the suicide bombings in Palestine.

Neither have I.... The Oklahoma bombing, imo, was done by that lunatic McVeigh solely and, although I'm highly critical of Sharon, I don't think he's perverse to the point of slaughtering his own people.

I think France's Algerian war is interesting because it reveals how an allegedly "democracy" can nonetheless harbor anti-democratic institutions --namely, the military and rogue operators inside intelligence outfits. Remember that General De Gaulle was --and still is-- revered as a historical icon of XXth-century France. Yet, that didn't prevent high-ranking officers of the French military to plot against De Gaulle's foreign policy and, ultimately, to carry out assassination attempts against him!

I guess the U.S. has always faced the same internal threat: bureaucracies --somehow, both France and the US are "bureaucratic democracies"-- harbor individuals who earnestly believe that THEY know what's best for their country and that pols --including elected heads of state-- are merely transient, opportunistic meddlers... I've read in The Economist that a lot of officers in the US military are Southern fellows, Bible belt dwellers... Well, these guys have been hanging about in the Pentagon for, say, 15, 20, 25 years? They've seen four or five different administrations, four or five successive Prez... I guess Pentagon vets illustrate the proverb: "Republican or Democratic pols bark... but the US bureaucracy rolls on."

Anyway, I think it's wrong to suspect "the US government" as a monolithic entity that's secretely scheming against "the people". In 1961, OAS terrorist attacks were not perpetreted by "the French government" --however, some TRAITOROUS individuals INSIDE the French military/intelligence were part of the OAS conspiracy and, according to George Fleury, some prominent French politicians had contact with OAS.

That's why my pet neologism, Judeo-fascism is so helpful: it spreads across traditional boundaries. For the current fascistic threat we're facing is not a purely "Jewish" conspiracy, nor a purely "Israeli" blackmail, nor a purely "US government" cointelpro scheme, although it certainly involves Jewish and Israeli individuals. So far, I still cling to my initial theory, that is, Russia as the key mastermind of 911 with Israel as its main auxiliary. Next come second fiddles from France and, possibly, Belgium (the so-called Belgo-Tunisian connection).
