Good question. (And, Happy New Year, Wave.)

Given the unfortunate trends, I think the next wave of paternalism will trump the "War on Poverty," the "War on Drugs," and some of the domestic implications of the "War on Terror" et al definitively in terms of both its social/economic redistributionalism and the unintended consequences that arise as a result.

And, whether in intent or by actual stated mandate - as I've said in a tongue-in-cheek manner a few times now - I think it will take the form of a strict, governmentally-instrumented War on Unhappiness.
