Who said anything about a weak defense? Smart defense though, definitely. Rumsfield has been lobbying for Star Wars for a long-long time. He's finally getting his wish. I wonder though who really benefits from SDI? Does it protect us from any realistic threat? If not, and assuming it even works, why spend many billions a year on something that antagonizes every other major country and is another budget buster?
