You know, Jim, I agree with the person who said you shouldn't have had your cat declawed. Maybe that's why he bit you on the foot!! I know it's CONVENIENT to have a cat that won't scratch the furniture, but imagine how you would feel if someone larger and more powerful than you are decided that they would remove the tips of all of your fingers and all of your toes. The recovery from the surgery is very painful, it is a major shock to the animals, a few of whom die, and you also need to consider that claws are used for balancing, for sensing things, for climbing, and for protection by the cat. In a significant way it's like castration, but worse because at some point the cat may depend on his claws to survive.

This is a permanent, significant disfigurement to a cat, and affects him/her psychically and psychologically as well as physically. I know animal rights advocates are not your favorite people, but many of them are now trying to make the public aware that this is cruelty to animals. Most veterinarians in San Francisco will no longer perform the procedure (I'm sure that will come as no surprise to you or Michael)!
