Killebrew was not a 3B; he played barely a third of his games there. and we won't even talk about how bad his defense was when he was there.

Rose didn't even play a fifth of his games at 3B. and frankly, other than the difference in longevity, Santo was a far superior hitter. look at their respective peaks; Santo was worth far more runs.

and don't even get me started on Brooks Robinson, who is the most over-rated player in the history of baseball. guy couldn't hit the side of a barn; over the course of his career his OPS was only 723, which is a mere 4% better than the average player at the time (Santo, on the other hand, was a full 100 points higher and was 25% better than the average player). and any serious student of baseball knows that Clete Boyer was a better defensive 3rd baseman and deserved at least half of the Gold Gloves Robinson won. by the way, Santo was every bit Robinson's and Boyer's equal in the field.

Torre and Ken Boyer were both excellent players (frankly, they're both better players than Brooks Robinson) but they're not up to Santo's standards. plus, Torre was more a catcher; he play less than a quarter of his games at 3B.

other than heresay, you can not make any reasonable statistical case for any of these guys.
